Pokemon Unite

It’s all about who wants to be the very best in the latest Pokemon adventure as if the Sword and Shield Expansion Pass was not enough.

The Pokemon Company revealed on their Youtube Channel Wednesday morning a new Pokemon game titled ‘Pokemon Unite” for the Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Unite is being developed by Gaming Studio, TenCent’s TiMi Studios. TenCent is credited for being the brains behind other massive free-to-play online games like Honor of Kings and the mobile version of Call of Duty.

Pokemon Unite is a MOBA-style that allows players to form teams of 5 to battle it out with other Pokemon trainers against Pokemon trainers. In Pokemon Unite, players in each team will be allowed to control a single Pokemon and battle in a timed environment in a effort to see which team can gain the most points.

A Pokemon game would not be a Pokemon game without the ability to level up your Pokemon and evolving your Pokemon partner. Thank goodness it will be a feature in the game. Pokemon Unite also revealed the ability to learn classic Pokemon moves like Flare Blitz and Slash, just to name a few.

What’s new in Pokemon Unite ?
There are a set of new moves called “Unite Moves.” Unite moves will serve as ultimate attacks that deals massive damage against your opponent.

Inspiration from Gaming History
As mention earlier, the game is modeled after MOBA style games. You are probably wondering to yourself “I’ve seen this before somewhere.” Maybe you have played League of legends, where teams of five can be created to battle against each other.

Pokemon is on a role
The revealing of Pokemon Unite is just the tip of the iceberg off a set of last week announcements. Last week, the franchise released the first of the two part expansion pack for Pokemon Sword and Shield. In addition to the expansion pack, Pokemon announced a remake of the classic Nintendo 64 game, Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo Switch and 2 mobile apps, Pokemon Cafe Mix (which is already out), and Pokemon Smile, an children app geared towards making dental hygiene cleaning fun for children.
